TOSELAND
(DUCATI) new championship leader; 2nd in both races: "...
I'm happy that I'm consistently fast now. We had a few problems in qualifying
but got them sorted and I'm really happy with the way the bike's working
... Seconds
are doing my head in at the moment, I need a first! ... I really want
to win the championship and for the moment consistency is paying off
but I'm not winning races!"
LACONI (DUCATI)
winner Race 2: ".... Eight laps from the end of the second
race I thought about letting Haga go, but then I thought again and went
after him. I almost caught him and then he had this problem (Haga retired)
. Everyone did a great job this weekend so a big thanks to the mechanics,
engineers, the team, Fila, Shell Advance, and all our other sponsors
for their support".

LACONI (DUCATI)
championship leader, 5th: he
crashed during his session
"... I just lost the rear under braking and it was a very
fast crash at the entry to the very fast triple but I'm OK. When I saw
the rear of the bike go, I just let go and the bike went straight into
the tyre wall. I was on for a quicker time when I crashed but we still
have to work hard to find something more for tomorrow because the bike
is still not turning well in the corners."
CORSER (FOGGY)
4TH: "... This afternoon I started off by trying to do
a full race distance and straightaway I was into the 1:29s without a
problem. That was on race rubber, so I felt pretty happy. I was going
to try some fresh tyres later on, but when I did, there was a lot of
oil on the track and the session was red flagged, so I lost my chance
of making any significant improvements. This track feels a bit like
Misano and that means that our bike gets on with it quite well. I sort
of felt that before we started today and now I am looking forward to
the rest of the weekend. We'll put in a fresh engine tonight and see
how much we can improve tomorrow. I believe that we can improve the
bike tomorrow - especially on braking - and that should mean quicker
lap times."

PRE
RACE QUOTES
- LACONI
(DUCATI) championship leader: "... Oschersleben is a small
circuit but unlike many other riders I actually like it. It's a bit
like Valencia with lots of right and left corners but no really long
straight and I think my riding style is good for it. The only difficult
part is just before the back straight, where many riders cut the chicane
... For this race the bike needs to be set up so that it is easy for
the changes in direction. As we already have a good base set-up, we
will not change the bike from Monza very much"
- TOSELAND
(DUCATI) 2003 winner: "... Last year I earned myself a
piano for my win at Oschersleben" declared the 23 year-old from
Sheffield, England. "I don't think I'll be getting anything like
that if I win again, but it'll be great to race again on the circuit
where I took my first World Superbike victory .... It's a different
kettle of fish this year, what with the new bike and the new tyres,
but I'm a lot happier now that we found something at Monza with the
help of the Öhlins technicians. I've got more feel at the front,
we just need to find more rear grip, but other than that the bike is
really good ... Oschersleben is tight and twisty and not very heavy
on the braking, unlike Monza .. it's got lots of horseshoe corners,
which makes for some interesting racing. It was close last year, so
there's no reason why it shouldn't be this time around."
- MARTIN
(DUCATI): "... I have always done well here and I am happy
with my form at the moment so I am going to go for it and give it my
best .I have a good team of guys behind me now and the more we work
together the faster we seem to get ...I have to say I feel sorry for
Peter (Goddard) to have been thrown in at the deep end in the middle
of the season and then me injuring myself after having worked together
for a handful of laps. The good news is that already I feel I can concentrate
more only on riding rather than all the other pit related stuff"
