"This championship means a lot to me and I look forward to the rest of the season.
The THQ World Supercross GP championship was the only one I have not won, so I am excited for this opportunity.” Ther are 2 more rounds still to go.
  • CARMICHAEL & McGRATH RETURN FOR 2005 SEASON; STEWART MOVES UP TO 250 CLASS
  • After missing the 2004 season through injury, the 3 times AMA Supercross champion Ricky Carmichael is back. He will ride Suzuki to contest the world supercross championship starting in Canada.
CARMICHAEL: "... Since the Maxxis U.S. Open, I have really increased my training and riding to ensure that I am in top shape for the THQ World Supercross GP ... This is going to be one heck of a season, and I am hungry to win my first THQ World Supercross GP championship"

CONTENDERS IN 2005 AMA SUPERCROSS CHAMPIONSHIP:

  • Ricky Carmichael, age 25
"... The time away from racing was actually good for me ... Of course I didn't want to get injured, but the time away from racing let me breathe a little bit. I started racing a full-time professional schedule in 1997; that's a long time to be racing non-stop ... I’m looking forward to working with my new team and going for a fourth supercross championship"
  • Chad Reed, age 22
"... It’s one of those rare moments in racing where all the top riders will come together ... If I weren’t racing myself I would definitely be in the crowd watching. I’m honoured to be mentioned as one of the top riders in this group ..."
  • James Stewart, age 19
"... I'm not going to say that I will beat them, because I don't want to go in like that ... But what I do think, is that I'm working real hard right now to prepare myself to battle each week. Everything else will fall into place."
  • Travis Pastrana, age 21
  • Mike LaRocco, age 33
