VOSS WINS WORLD SX; REED WINS AMA SX TITLE

  • WORLD SX: Heath Voss riding Yamaha is 2004 World Supercross Champion.
  • AMA SX: 2004 AMA SX championship was decided at the final race in Las Vegas. Chad Reed was heading for his first AMA 250cc title until he was penalized 25 points (for illegal fuel in Texas). He had won 10 races and led Kevin Windham by just 12 points before the final race. Kevin Windham won with Reed 2nd but the 21 year old Australian wins his first ever AMA (250) championship title.

  • James Stewart wins AMA 125 EAST championship: 2003 125 East champion has now won the East title by winning 5 from 5 with 2 races still to go. He is only the second rider ever to win both Regions.
  • STEWART (KAWASAKI): "... This championship might be the sweetest one yet .. I’ve been very consistent this year, something that hasn’t been the case throughout my career. I’ve been fast before, but there’s always been a crash here or there that has kept me from being this consistent"

LAST SEASON (2003)

  • Rookie 21 year old Australian Chad Reed won the inaugural World Supercross championship with 9 wins including the last 6 races in a row. He finished runner-up in the AMA series just 7 points behind Ricky Carmichael. Reed won the 125 East title last year. In 2000 he was the world 250 motocross runner-up in his debut year. Before racing on international stage, Chad Reed won his home Australian Supercross championships in 1999 and 2000.
