POST RACE:
- KIYONARI,
WINNER BOTH RACES: "That went well for me today. Once
I had passed some of the other riders, I concentrated on making sure
my lap times were consistently fast and that I was able to run comfortably
at the front. I had to fight for the race two victory though. I got
the start I wanted but when the safety car came out, I knew that I’d
have a race on my hands. I also knew that my Michelin tyres would last
the race distance, so all I had to do was keep Lavilla behind me. I
made my mind up that I didn’t want to have to defend any overtaking
manoeuvres, so I just went as fast as I could until I was sure of the
victory."
- RUTTER,
2nd & 3rd:
“I would have liked to have gone for the win in race one but –
as at Brands Hatch a fortnight ago – Kiyo was unstoppable. Race
two was even tougher so I’m happy to be on the podium again but
I don’t know what I’m going to do about my team-mate! He’s
injured and is still able to go out there and win races. Seriously though,
it’s great for HM Plant Honda Racing and we couldn’t have
hoped for a better start to the year.”
- HARRIS,
6th & 8th:
"All things considered I’m reasonably happy with my results
today. It was great to have qualified on the front row and get up to
second place in the early stages of race one but having moved up to
Superbike level, maintaining this kind of position is never easy. The
CBR1000RR Fireblade felt incredibly composed out there, so I didn’t
need to change much for race two. Although I won here in last year’s
British Supersport Championship, I’m still on a steep learning
curve and my goal is to finish every race this year as far up the points
table as possible.”
- REYNOLDS:
"Thank you to my crew for pulling me out of the second race when
they did -
I was suffering with my broken right leg and was well outside the points.
Looking at the big picture, it was the correct decision as I was risking
a lot for no reward. I will have a meeting with my doctor on Wednesday
to assess my leg and see what else I can do to speed up my recovery.
I feel as though I have been riding this weekend and not able to race
because of my physical condition. My aim now is to be racing again as
soon as possible."

"I
needed that, and I’m pleased to be on pole – the races will
be one hell of scrap with the riders seven or eight abreast around here
but I am ready for it and intend that these races will get me back on
track for the title. Last year I had good results here, a win and a
second place, and I want to do at least that again,” said Rutter,
whose team-mate, the series leader Ryuichi Kiyonari took a bruising
as he crashed at 120 miles an hour at Allards – the double winner
at Brands Hatch on Easter Monday injured his left ankle and will have
overnight treatment."

PREVIEW:
- Michael
Rutter (HONDA): “Thruxton was a good circuit for me last year,
so I’m hoping to build on that and get my challenge for the title
back on track. At the moment, my team-mate Kiyonari is my biggest threat,
but it’s reassuring to know that I have the same superior HM Plant
Honda Racing machinery as he does. I’ve been working hard with
the team to find the optimum set-up, so I’m confident that I will
see more good results this weekend.”
- Ryuichi
Kiyonari (HONDA): “I was surprised at winning both races at Brands
Hatch and I know that I will still have to work hard this weekend
to achieve good results. Michael [Rutter] is a good guy and we are friends
off the track, but he is also very fast and I know how much he wants
to win. Thruxton was not one of my favourite tracks last year, so I
am looking forward to putting lots of laps in during practice to help
me prepare for the race.”
- Glen Richards
(KAWASAKI): “I’m really looking forward to it. We’ve
got some new parts to check out, and I want to do some rear suspension
work with the guys. I love the track and just want to get the bike dialed
in and build on the results I got at the first round”
- Dean Thomas
(KAWASAKI):: “It's early days for me on the bike. I think Thruxton
will suit me, and the bike, better. I want to finish higher
than I did at Brands and keep moving forward with the bike and the team.
Every time I get on the bike we improve it, so I’m looking to
get more points and move up in the championship”.
