Mr Motocross Outdoor Nationals

Darryll King wins Pro Open ; Cody Cooper wins Pro Lite

  • KING (YAMAHA): ".... I am absolutely delighted with the way I went this year ... There were a few people out there who thought I might be too old and I am pleased to have proven them wrong. I have to thank the whole Yamaha team they gave me a fantastic bike to compete on, which really gave me the confidence to do what ever I needed to do to win. I will now be focusing my attention to winning the New Zealand Motocross Season which started last weekend"

Wontaggi Wonderland - Three On The Podium for No Fear Honda at Series Final

The sun was shining on all fronts for the No Fear Honda Team as they walked away from the final Mr Motocross series with a first and third in the Pro Lites class for Cody Cooper and Troy Dorron, and a second in the Pro Open for Shayne King.

Under blue skies and muddy conditions, Cooper finished up the eight round competition with his usual finesse, finishing first and second respectively in the two motos. With ten race wins under his belt, the 20 year old Kiwi secured his first Australian Championship, in front of Cameron Taylor(Yamaha) who put up a close fight throughout the series.

Team mate Troy Dorron kept the competion for second place alive to the bitter end, finishing third on the day and third overall.

Great results in the Pro Open series also came courtesy of Shayne King who finished first for the round, and second in the Championship to brother Darryll King (Yamaha).

King, Cooper and Dorron were all happy with their final results after a tough season racing in a wide variety of conditions from the horrendous muck of Horsham to the sandy circuits of Coolum and Conondale.

"Awesome," Cody said. "I'm sore from today - it was tough out there with a lot of ruts and areas where guys were getting bogged down."

"This has been a pretty ideal season for me in the outdoor series. We had very few problems with the bikes except for a couple of times like today when rocks cracked the casing. That made things a bit more interesting."

"Thanks to the Team and to Pip (Harrison) for everything. I'll be celebrating that's for sure!"

After riding with a fight-to-the-end attitudie, Shayne King raced consistently and agressively on the day to take out the round win.

King was also pleased with his finish and had this to say about the last eight rounds.

"I knew it would be tough to beat DK but its never over until its over. I always go out to win every race I'm in so backing off just wasn't an option. Its important too to put on a good show of racing for the spectactors and I think we did that at every round."

"I'm happy enough with second place, but winning would have been better!" Kingy said with a smile.

"Thanks to the Team and my mechanic Jimmy. None of us could do this without the support of our families, and most importantly our team and personal sponsors so a special thanks to them."
