2005 AMA SUPERBIKE CHAMPIONSHIP

  • July 8-10, 2005: Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, Calif. (Superbike Doubleheader)

RACE RESULT, AMA SUPERBIKES:

SBK RACE 1 (28 laps, 100km)

  • 1 Eric Bostrom, Ducati 999R
  • 2 Mat Mladin, Suzuki GSX-R1000 +6s
“This is the hardest track on the circuit for me. I can go fast here, but it’s not easy. I’ve struggled here for 10 years. But it was a good race today and congratulations to Eric (Bostrom) for the win. We just couldn’t get it done today.”
  • 3 Aaron Yates, Suzuki GSX-R1000 +7.7s
  • 4 Ben Spies, Suzuki GSX-R1000
  • 5 Jake Zemke (Honda)
  • 6 Miguel Duhamel (Honda)
  • 7 Kurtis Roberts (Honda)
  • 8 Steve Rapp (Suzuki)
  • 9 Jacob Holden (Suzuki)
  • 10 Jason Pridmore (Suzuki)

QUALIFYING:

  • 1. Mat Mladin (Suzuki) 1:24.887 *** new record ***
“It wasn’t too bad. I did two laps. The first one Neil (Hodgson) rode out of the pits and decided that he must have been the only one on the racetrack, so that ruined that lap. I backed off and went for another one and put another one in. It wasn’t too bad. This is the first time we’ve had the new GSX-R1000 here at Laguna. We didn’t come test up here early in the year, so these were our first laps. An hour and 20 or whatever it is so far certainly isn’t enough. The fact that we went quicker than last year is pretty amazing and says a whole lot about the new motorcycle. I’m pretty comfortable with the race setup as usual. The bike feels pretty good. I’m sure there’s a lot more time out there, but we don’t have the time to really get the most out of the bike."
  • 2. Eric Bostrom (Ducati) 1:25.366
