DAVID RICHARDS (WRC):
"I think you are going to see a world rally with far more different
faces on the podium ... You will see private competitors competing
when they've never had the chance before"
- Subaru and Ford will be the only factory works
teams in 2006 championship.
NEW TYRES: BFGoodrich (owned by Michelin) will be
used by all teams except Subaru on Pirelli tyres.
CHANGE TO DIFFERENTIAL: experienced drivers (who
finished in top 6) will not be allowed to use active differential;
they will have to use mechanical differential. Drivers who havn't
finished in top 6 in the last 5 years (such as Chris Atkinson) can
still use active differential.
CALENDAR CHANGES: Major overhaul to 16 round Rally schedule
affecting about half the rallies. 2006 Season finishes with the Rally
of Wales (UK) instead of Australia.
NEW DRIVERS: inlclude DTM champion Mattias Ekstrom;
18 year old Matthew Wilson
