- DAYTONA PROTOTYPE:
- 1
Scott Pruett (Luis Diaz, Ryan Briscoe), CompUSA Lexus/Riley, 1m
46.928s
"For me that was pretty
ragged ... Qualifying is about taking some pretty big chances that
you feel like you can get away with. That was about as much as I
was comfortable with going into a 24-hour event."
- 2
Max Angelelli,
SunTrust Pontiac/Riley, 1m 46.945
"I'm happy to be on the front row, especially this year in
front of so many famous drivers, quick drivers and good cars,"
Angelelli said. "But it's disappointing when you cannot get
the pole and you've basically been fastest all day long, so my enjoyment
is cut 50 percent. This race is so different to the others because
it can be anything. It can be good, it can be bad. Of course, we
have a good car, I think we're fast, but the race is 24 hours-one
day-and anything can happen"

Wolf Henzler, Farnbacher Racing USA Porsche GT3, 1m 55.958s
"This
is my first race at Daytona. My first time here was in the test
four weeks ago, and that was also my first time running on banking.
It is fantastic. When I first saw it I felt it would be easy to
learn, but after a few laps I realized it was really difficult.”

BUSCH (FORD):
".... It seemed like it was a couple of weeks ago that I was
able to hold up the NEXTEL Cup trophy, and the next time I'm in
a car I'm a rookie in the Rolex Series at Daytona. Again, it's another
challenge in my resume that I want to try to complete. I had that
opportunity to run the Champ Car a few years ago and treated it
just as opportunity as an audition, but it's obvious my primary
background is with oval racing. Road racing is a learn-as- you-go
thing, and I believe that's what the atmosphere is this weekend
with the test around this 24-hour race. I hope that we're able to
be 90-percent complete before we start the 24-hour race in the next
couple of weeks. It's a great opportunity Ford has put together.
Crown Royal is our primary sponsor, which will be on my NEXTEL Cup
car a few races this next year. It gives me a great chance to work
with them. Any project that you can cross-reference, whether it's
sponsor related or manufacturer related, or whether it's just driving
a different style of race car, I'm all up for."
- CHIP
GANASSI: ".... This was the perfect opportunity to
build on the Chip Ganassi Racing concept of 'one team' by bringing
it all together for an all out assault at the Rolex 24 At Daytona
... Here we are with three DP Lexus Rileys, nine very talented drivers
from three different series, and three major sponsors ... We have
the tools for success now we just have to put it all together on
the track ... The 2005 season will certainly be a battle but we're
looking to win at Daytona, and defend our Rolex Championship title."
