2004 CHANGES

  • Production class introduced in 2001 has been removed; 1 class for all drivers
  • 3 races will be run at every venue instead of 2
  • Starting grid for race 2 will be reverse grid (based on race 1 result)
  • No more compulsory pitstops
  • European Touring specification cars can compete in BTCC; ETC cars can be 50 kg lighter than BTCC spec cars

LAST SEASON (2003)

  • MANUFACTURER CHAMPION: VAUHALL
    its 3rd consecutive title ; 2 litre, 275BHP Vauxhall Astra Coupé
  • DRIVER CHAMPION: Yvan Muller, Vauxhall Astra , 5 wins
    Muller won his first ever BTTC crown. He has been championship runner-up twice since his debut in 1998.
    MULLER: " .. I am delighted with the result. I have been so close before, I came second last season and also the year before, but now I have done it. I have wanted this for a long time and I was really determined that I wouldn't let it slip away from me. James (Thompson) is a strong rival, so I knew that it would be tight all the way – and it certainly was. This achievement is very special to me and I must thank everyone at VX Racing for helping me to my first BTCC drivers' title .."
