WINNER OVERALL, C LOWNDES:

• “For many years I have not been able to achieve a consistent result at this track ... It was very pleasing to finally put three good races together especially with the reverse grid lottery. I am still not a fan of reverse grids because I believe in some instances the damage is disproportionate to the actual racing and Winton is one of a handful of tracks where passing is particularly difficult. Today’s results show just how important consistency is, we have now moved to third in the championship and almost within reach of the top spot. It is great to finally break the hoodoo.”

2ND OVERALL. J BRIGHT:

• “I’ve been disappointed this year that we haven’t been up here more this year with a few mistakes but we can certainly finish the Championship strongly. It’s good to bounce back so strongly here and we can carry that through to the next round. We’ve just got to get as many points as we can. I think the enduros will work for us with Mark being so strong. We’ve just got to keep getting points and drop one of the disasters we had.”

• WINNER RACE 1, BRIGHT, FORD: “We’ve had the same speed since Tasmania last year, we just got to get through a weekend without any trouble. It (speed) is not something that has just appeared now ... I thought we had the pace to race and compete strongly today, it was just fortunate we didn’t have to get around anyone ... It’s quite a different nature to Pukekohe and Barbagallo. If you get held up here it costs you quite a bit. It’s a gamble. The last time in Perth we had a great run through the field. It’s a matter of taking the moments if they are there. If there is an opportunity we will try to round a few others up.”
