2005
V8 SUPERCAR CHAMPIONSHIP
DRIVER / TEAM
CHANGES:
- COURTNEY
TO DRIVE FOR HRT AT BATHURST
James Courtney will join Holden Racing Team for Bathurst 1000 this year.
Courtney has been racing in Japan where he won the Japanese F3 championship
in 2003. Before moving to Japan he was a test driver for Formula 1 Jaguar
team.
- DAVISON
JOINS TEAM DYNAMIK
22 year old Will Davison will drive for Team Dynamik alongside Simon
Wills this season. Davison won the Australian Formula Ford championship
in 2001 before moving to UK for British F3 series.
DAVISON: " ... I’m just so rapt to be able to work with the
boys at Dynamik. I see a massive amount of potential in the Team, and
I know that I will also grow as a driver. I think we will hit the track
very well prepared at Albert Park next year"
- STONE BROTHERS
TO SUPPLY ENGINE TO 888 RACING
Stone Brothers Ford will supply engines to Triple Eight Ford
team for next 3 years. Earlier this year a similar deal was signed with
Larkham Motor Sport (for 2 years).
R STONE (SBR): "... an expansion of our engine development business
with Triple Eight makes sense ... The sport is becoming more and more
expensive and partnerships like this are going to be crucial to the
future success of everyone involved ... This deal has come with the
encouragement of Ford and will benefit, Triple Eight, SBR and Larkham
Motor Sport's Orrcon Racing"
R DANE (888): "... There is no doubt that SBR has been the benchmark
in this series for the past couple of years and if we were ever going
to come to an arrangement like this, then SBR were the obvious choice
as partners ... Like us, SBR is in the business of motor racing to win.
Ross and Jimmy Stone have a tremendous reputation as fair and ethical
competitors and that is also an obvious consideration when structuring
such an arrangement ... The sport of V8 Supercar racing is not getting
any cheaper and it makes no sense for teams to be duplicating very expensive
development programs across a whole range of areas"
- GLEN SETON
JOINS DICK JOHNSON RACING
Seton
leaves Ford performance Racing. Signs a 2 year contract with DJR.
- LOWNDES
JOINS TRIPLE EIGHT RACING
Craig
Lowndes leaves Ford performance Racing
- ELLERY
JOINS TRIPLE EIGHT RACING

Ellery joins Ford performance Racing
- MURPHY
JOINS PWR RACING
After
4 years with K Mart Racing, Greg Murphy joins PWR Racing in 2005
- RADISICH
& MORRIS JOINS TEAM KIWI
RADISICH: ".... I have sat back over the last few months and watched
what Mr John (owner David John) said he would do and to his credit that
is what has happened, which has made the decision to join TKR the right
one for my family and I"
JOHN: ".... We are excited to have a Kiwi driver with the experience
and of the calibre that Paul brings to Team Kiwi Racing as we start
our next stage of development ... Paul
has unfinished business in the Australian V8 Supercar Championship and
we look forward to achieving both his goals and that of the team in
2005"
- BRIGHT
TO FORM HIS OWN TEAM
Jason Bright is to become team owner driver.
- GREG RITTER
JOINS FORD PERFORMANCE RACING
1999 Australian Formula Ford Champion will join Ford Performance
Racing after departure of Craig Lowndes and Glen Seton
RITTER: "... This is a fantastic opportunity for me - for the first
time in my career I am heading towards a full season in V8 Supercars
with a major Ford team and I will be joining one of the world's most
accomplished motor racing organisations in Prodrive. This is also a
very exciting time to be joining FPR, as they have spent the last two
years developing the team and now we are beginning to see their potential
for Championship success. I am really looking forward to 2005"
FPR (David Flint): "... We have been watching Greg during the past
two seasons. We were particularly impressed with his outstanding performances
with Marcos Ambrose and SBR during this year's endurance races and we
look forward to helping Greg make his mark in V8 Supercars with FPR
next season"
- ANDREW
JONES JOINS GARRY ROGERS MOTORSPORTS
Konica series winner Andrew Jones replaces Garth Tander. Jones
has signed up for 3 years with the team. Andrew is a nephew of owner/driver
Brad Jones.
- LUFF JOINS
STONE BROTHERS
Warren Luff (2004 Rookie of the year) will drive for Stone
Brothers Racing in enduros (Bathurst and Sandown). He will co-drive
with either Marcos Ambrose or Russell Ingall.
LUFF: "... There is no doubt that SBR is the new benchmark in V8
Supercar racing and I am thrilled to be in a position to develop a relationship
with Ross and Jimmy Stone and everyone at Stone Brothers Racing ...
You do not finish 1-2 in this championship unless you are focused on
the job and the SBR operation is as professional as they come"
