RACE 1, MAY 7, 2005
- 1
Mark Skaife, 51 laps, 120 kms
"It's
the third time I've won the first race (of three) here so now I've got
to make sure I win a few more tomorrow. It's certainly going to tough
in race two and three tomorrow, we all know that."
- 2
Marcos Ambrose
"I had no grip and just ran wide which allowed 'Skaifey' to slip
past me. Fortunately I was able to gather it up and stay in second place.
I had a couple of cracks at Skaife over the remaining laps, but I had
the championship in the back on my mind. It was certainly a cracker
race and sets up a pretty interesting day for the fans tomorrow."
- 3
Steven Richards
- 4
Russell Ingall
"It's all good. We
are back in the game after qualifying 12th this morning. It was a great
move to bring me in early for my stop to break me away from the train
of cars I was in and then the boys gave me an awesome 4.3-second stop."

FRI PRACTICE, MAY
6, 2005
- 1
Steven Johnson, Ford
"We've virtually used our drop your worst round after
New Zealand so it was good to come here and find speed straight away.
In New Zealand we tried a lot of changes during practice and seemed
to get lost. This time I got out of the car during the session, looked
at a lot of data and a few track maps and we made some good gains"
- 2
Jason Bright, Ford
"I'm sure qualifying tomorrow will be very interesting
and that it may well not be the same guys sitting up here tomorrow afternoon."
- 3
Mark Skaife, Holden
- 4
Max Wilson, Ford

Todd Kelly, Holden
BEFORE
RACE:

:
- Heading into Round
Three of the V8 Supercar Championship Series at Perth's Barbagallo circuit,
the overwhelming sentiment is simply, 'how good has it been so far!'
- The racing has
been intense, the stewards have been kept on their toes, the teams have
worked overtime and there have been two dominant but deserving winners
in Marcos Ambrose and Greg Murphy.
- Barbagallo hasn't
seen a clean sweep since Paul Radisich won it all in his DJR Falcon
back in 2001, so is that a sign for this weekend? The Rat is right at
home in his new Team Kiwi Commodore and the aggressiveness of Barbagallo
suits his style.
- Since that Radisich
romp, only four drivers have enjoyed success in the West. Mark Skaife,
Jason Bright, Greg Murphy and Marcos Ambrose are all in good form and
should again be strong in the sand dunes of Wanneroo.
- Surprise of the
championship thus far is Paul Weel. He and his Supercheap Auto Racing
Commodore have been solid proof of what this series is all about; consistency.
He's yet to stand on a race podium, but in his words, "Who cares?
I'm up there!".
- Watch out for Craig
Lowndes. He was robbed in the final race in New Zealand with a car that
failed to start. He'll clearly want revenge in Round Three! The Triple
Eight pilot is fourth
in the points and is yet to win - Perth would be perfect for his return
to the top.
