  2001 SEASON: SKAIFE WINS HIS 4TH AUSTRALIAN TOURING CAR CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE 2001 COMPLETE RESULTS SUMMARY   

CHANGES in 2002:

  • TYRE : Dunlop will be the official control tyre in 2002
  • FUEL SAFETY : New F1 style double pipe (fuel and air vent) refueller
  • 2002 RACE CALENDAR:
  • Number of rounds reduced from 13 to 12
  • Support race at Queensland Indy Cart becomes a points scoring championship round
  • First round in Adelaide - March 17 (2001 first round was at Phillip Island)
  • No Calder Park race
  • Winton race moved up to Aug from Sept; Queensland 500 moved down to Sept from Aug
  • 2002 DRIVERS/TEAMS:
  • Wayne Gardner to join Stone Brothers Racing team for selected races; the team will have 3 drivers: Ambrose, Besnard, Gardner
  • Steven Richards joins Perkins Castrol team
  • Ford Tickford Racing will have just 1 driver line-up : Seton
  • John Bowe has left CAT/Briggs Racing and will join Brad Jones Racing/Ozemail team
