RACE
RESULT:
WINNER
Greg Murphy, 4th Bathurst win: "... “It’s total disbelief
almost
... To go back to back is an incredible feeling. There was a lot of
expectation to perform which added pressure so this is an unbelievable
result"
2ND
Glen Seton, third runner-up finish: "... To come out of
today with second is fantastic result for the team after what it has
been through this year .... This
race is pretty important to me, it is the Melbourne Cup of motor racing
and it is the one we all dream of winning… I’ve now come
second here three times, and do have time to win it yet ... I’d
never knock back the chance to stand on the podium when you can’t
win the race, and we didn’t have the speed to match Murphy today."
3RD Brad
Jones: "... A podium result at Bathurst is always special
though. This is a great result for the hardest working bunch of guys
in pit lane. They did a fantastic job today,”
4TH Marcus
Ambrose: "... We did not have the car for the track at
the end of the day ... It is nice to extend the championship lead and
I guess that’s what this is all about, but I think we were certainly
a chance to win this race today. There is always next year"

AMBROSE,
championship leader, 5th: "... The shootout lap was
the best we could do," said Ambrose. "I think there must
have been an extra chicane out there for the Fords, or the Holdens
missed a corner or two ... We certainly have a better race car than
qualifying here this weekend ... I am happy to be starting fifth and
being the leading Ford. There is no doubt that we are looking forward
to the race."

PRE
RACE
QUOTES
-
PERKINS
SELLS TO GORE (WPS):
"... It will be business as usual ...Arrangements are in place
to continue our race plans in the same manner as we have always done
... Our commitment to major sponsors Castrol and Holden remain totally
unaffected while the nucleus of our team personnel and driver line-up
will also be unchanged ... our focus at this stage is clearly aimed
at Bathurst next week where the Perkins team has demonstrated strong
performances in past years"
-
BESNARD
(FORD, WPS): "... It's my fifth trip to Bathurst and
this time I'll be looking to finish. If we can do that then the chances
are we'll post a good result .... I've led the race a couple of times
and actually looked like winning in my first race there but it wasn't
to be."
