A
California native and accomplished professional artist and designer,
Roger Hector has spent over 25 years creating and designing his
passions. His life-long fascination with vehicles started as a young
man first building models ... then real cars. After winning a national
car design competition, he attracted the attention of General Motors,
which suggested he pursue a career in auto design. They then offered
him a scholarship at the prestigious Art Center College of Design,
where he graduated with Honors.
During his career,
Roger has created and designed a great variety of projects from
race cars, to driving and flying simulators, to computer games and
theme park attractions. He has been a senior executive for major
corporations including Walt Disney, Sega, Atari, Bally, Electronic
Arts, and Universal Studios. He is an airplane pilot, yacht captain,
and holds over a dozen technology and design patents. But his passion
for cars has always been the central core of his artistic inspiration.
His highly accurate,
detailed, and tightly controlled style is a hallmark of his work.
He seeks to create emotional connections through the use of intriguing
reflections, dramatic light sources, and bold color. His extensive
understanding of form and architecture, and his obsessively accurate
attention to detail, has led him to create both classic portraits,
and acclaimed fine art compositions.
His work is
highly-sought by private collectors, and has been featured in major
museums such as The National Automobile Museum in Reno, Nevada,
the Peterson Museum in LA, and the Blackhawk Automobile Museum in
Danville, California. His work is also featured at fine art galleries
including the: Christopher Bell Gallery in Monterey, CA., the Legacy
Motors Gallery in Chicago, and The Art of the Automobile gallery
in San Jose, California. He works from his 2 studios in both the
Sierra Nevada mountains, and the Silicon Valley in California.
Mr.
Hector’s artwork is available as high quality limited edition
Giclee reproductions. He is also available for, and greatly enjoys
