FEEDBACK - Freeman - ignition barrell failure
I have read the postings regarding the failure of the ignition barrel assembly. The exact thing recently failed on my daughters 2001 Holden Astra Equipe which has done about 58K km's. She could not turn the key at all and called the NRMA.
It was fixed that she could turn the key and start the car then had to leave the key left in the ignition so that I could start the car and the next morning to get it to the dealership.
The ignition lock assembly had to be replaced ( I think it was over $200.00 ), which is very poor for a car at this age and she does not have excessive items (weight on the barrel) on her key ring, only 2 keys and the remote.
