I HAVE A NISSAN NAVARA THAT I HAVE HAD FROM NEW FOR ABOUT FOUR MONTHS

"Hi, I have a Nissan Navara that I have had from new for about four months. The suspension is sagging so much it bottoms out with only 150Kg in the back going over little speed bumps in the car park slowly. The problem that this creates is when you go to brake in an emergency stopping situation the Brake Proporting Valve is receiving invalid information as it thinks you have a huge load on the back & brakes accordingly. This error in braking causes the back end to bounce/shudder therefore increasing your braking distance by about double normal distance.

Why do I know this, well I had to stop quick & the vehicle did not want to stop quick, it shuddered to a stop, it did not brake effectively as the sagging suspension had compromised the braking system. This is a very unsafe problem & even though I informed the Nissan Service Department on the 20,000Km service, all they did was to annotate on the service document, "rear suspension outside of specs", and gave me back the keys. They should have kept the vehicle until this unsafe condition was repaired. If Nissan Service Dept had acted responsibly in this instance & repaired the vehicle, instead of a collision it would have been a near miss.

Nissan Australia did not want to enter into any discussion with this incident & placed the liability back on the Nissan Dealership. A great pass the buck indeed."

"Since day 1 when I drove my new 08 STX manual Navara from the dealers I have had a bad knock (ball joint type knock) in the front end, more evident when going round a right hand corner with less weight on the right hand side and you drop into the slightest dip and it continually knocks. 1st time it was put in 4WD to pull my speed boat out of a dam it would not come out of 4WD. You put 300 kg in the rear tray and it drives around on its bump stops. To get the vehicle to drive off from the slightest incline with the ski boat behind (would weight no more than 1800 kg) you have to rev the **** out of it and ride the clutch to get it to move. Hence why so many people are burning out clutches.

Being a mechanic myself I do understand how to properly operate a clutch, this vehicle is clearly too highly geared in 1st 2WD. Under acceleration there is a very annoying metallic vibration coming from the fly by wire accelerator pedal. I have been told it’s the A/C pipes and they have fixed it but the noise is still there and getting worse every day. My keys have the yellow identification tag still on it because my vehicle spends more time at the dealers than at my place. As the dealer seems to try and be as helpful as they can I am becoming a little tired of hearing the excuse of ‘that’s manufactures specifications and we can not do anything more about it’.

I have since written a letter to Nissan Australia and have been advised they can do nothing unless the vehicle is taken back to the dealer and they engage the Nissan Technical advice team to further assess these problems. Seems the dealers like to hide behind the Factory and the Factory likes to hide behind the dealers hoping they will burn the poor customer out!

I bought this vehicle to tow up to 3 ton because of the machinery business we run, I am too scared to even put the plant trailer behind this ute unloaded because I know I am going to burn the clutch out, and I’m afraid l will not have full control of the vehicle due to it very poor suspension. I feel a lot of the advertising done by Nissan is very misleading and misrepresented. Very disappointed with this vehicle and Nissan. I just hope it doesn't take a death to happen before some sort of enquiry is done on the above and Nissan start standing by their products. I have owned a lot of Nissans, but never have I been this frustrated or disappointed with a vehicle that’s only now done 18000 km."

"NISSAN NAVARA D40 STX 2007: NISSAN AUSTRALIA - USELESS - Hi all, I have a D40 that has been back to Nissan more times than I care to remember mostly with 4x4 problems. Also gear oil smell in cab, paint peeling, leaf springs sagging, back doors not sealing and water leaking in.

I am looking for anyone who has had problems with the 4x4 also anyone who can give me advice on how to get Nissan Australia to help. They are now refusing to answer my letters or emails.

Cheers Amanda"

If Nissan won't respond to your reasonable requests, then send a CC or copy to your local member. Explain the problems you are having, this may fan along the Lemon laws and have the culprits appropriately dealt with. If they get enough truthful & realistic complaints then something will have to be done.

Regards
Al
