| THIS IS THE TRUTH, OR A MITSUBISHI MYTH? HAS IT HAPPENED TO ANYONE ELSE? |
| "My 2000 T/KOOC Magna has lost its smooth automatic gear change feature. Apparently the computer that controls the gear changing is the culprit. There have been several adjustments to the computer, which then works well, but for only 2 or 3 weeks. I have been told that a new computer will be required, and the entire system re-configured. Also told there are 4 computers in the car, and all have to be done, as well as new keys supplied and programmed to suit the new computer settings. Can anyone confirm that this is the truth, or a Mitsubishi myth? Has it happened to anyone else?"

========== ORIGINAL POSTING ========== "My TL AWD Magna is fitted with LPG and towing kit for my 1500Kg (gross) caravan. I have towed this van over 28000kms with no problems until returning home and unhitching van. Car is now displaying a shudder at certain low revs in drive and Tiptronic. It is not associated with engine function.
I have had the wheels balanced, gearbox drained and flushed and refilled with recommended grade oil, but no cure. Has been suggested that the torque converter is ****. What is the approximate cost of a repair and is it possible to fit this excellent vehicle with a manual gearbox?" POSTED BY: DOUG PIGOT - HOBART, TAS - AUS 14 OCT 2009 |
