NISSAN NAVARA D40 STX V6 AUTO 2007: BRAKE ROTORS AT 30,000KS
10 JUN 2009
BRAKES
*FEEDBACK WANTED*

HAS ANYBODY ELSE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM?

"Vehicle has done 32,000ks and I just received a phone call from my dealer after dropping the vehicle in for a service and was told the brake rotors are U/S and will cost me $680 per side to replace including $320 for the pads. What are the pads made of? (**** gold?) Does this sound right? I will be pushing for warranty on this. Has anybody else had the same problem?"

I was warned that my pads and rotors were worn out around the same K's. The dealer, Village Nissan, said it was a wear and tear issue. I have had to go through Fair Trading to get the rotors replaced under warranty. Now, as a good will gesture, they will replace the rotors if I pay for the labour, saying that Nissan have told them it is not covered. Warranty exclusions only say pads, not rotors-different part by "their" definition. Get onto Nissan first to cut out the **** in between, before it is too late.

Don't go with the Nissan originals - they will only wear out after another 30,000 (mine took 45,000). Go for dba rotors and bendix pads - they are much cheaper and a better product, no brake dust on your wheels for starters.
