| HAVE BOOKED THE CAR IN TO DARWIN NISSAN ON TUESDAY SO HOPE THEY CAN FIX. |
| "An issue with oil usage, checked by one dealer and found to have oil film through air intake from turbo through throttle body. They thought a breather from the tappet cover was to blame, sent me on my way after topping up the oil. 1500k's later oil level has dropped by about 10mm on dip stick.Oil leaking from intake hose on throttle body, car runs fine, no oil smoke, car has done 27000k's. As I am 4000k's from home on holiday's and in the top end this is a real worry. Have booked the car in to Darwin Nissan on Tuesday so hope they can fix."

========== REPLY ========== I would have them check how much the engine is breathing. Shouldn’t be much on a car with only 27,000 kms. If there is any doubt get them to check the compression. A small amount of oil in the inlet system is usually ok. If they have a dyno get them to check blow by at full load. If it is excessive this would indicate major problems. They should know if repairs are needed before your return trip. Oil consumption and a lot of oil in the inlet system is not a good sign. POSTED BY: RUSSELL DAWES - YEALERING, WA - AUS 5 OCT 2009 |
