"CARAVANS JAYCO STERLING 2007: THIS JAYCO VAN IS NOTHING BUT A HEAP OF RUBBISH - Purchased new in Aug 2007, had no use other than 1 short trip. Started to fall apart, ensuite walls gave away from the walls, was replaced under warranty but cause was not established. Roof catches on one side do not line up out about 12mm. Van is bad to tow, jerks at some speeds on corners, reason, Haymen Reece will not fit correctly (nothing wrong with hitch). Van Drops 50mm to the off side, which is the reason the hitch will not fit correctly and the van being unstable. Numerous doors and ensuite door will not open properly, so many numerous interior faults to mention, all very poor workmanship. Jayco refused to check van fully as to underlying problems.

So I had an approved RTA engineer check van. Result, which backs up my suspicions from the start, twisted chassis, A frame out of alignment, body twisted as a result, which is trapezoid, van is a total write off. Jayco don't want to talk to me, refused a replacement van prior to the engineer check, then after the check will not concur with his findings, so it is going to the CTTT of the Fair Trading. Has been going on for over 7 months, Jayco just use any excuse to stall, they make rubbish then give you lousy pathetic service.

Won't mention the name of the dealership only to say they are the "Queen Bee Anne' of dealerships. This van is under warranty, has done 1200 km only, no accident damage or other reason other than very poor manufacture. Good on you Jayco you are a credit to good old Aussie workmanship and fair play. Lets **** those hard working pensioners who saved hard for years to buy one of your total **** your call a good quality van.

Sorry this one is not worth burning, better still display it at the factory as an example of how not to make a van. Or better still I will park it outside the dealership all day every day to let others know. It has cost me so much money, stress and anxiety over the past months and now more with a Tribunal, boy are we having fun with our purchase. Hope no one else experiences this from Jayco."

I purchased a 2008 designer fifth wheel Jayco. Everything imaginable has went wrong with this thing from refrigerator 3 times fixed in one month, pipes replaced because of water leaks everywhere, grey water tank replaced, mattress memory gone, less than year old bin doors falling apart, cushions falling apart on couch, counter top crumbling and sink crumbling apart, furnace igniter don’t work in January, stove top cover fell and knocked scalding food on me causing 3rd degree burns to both hands and arms.

I finally got a lawyer I had begged them to change RV, they would not. I am very afraid of what will happen next. I spent a lot of money and when the ink was dry it was a battle to get them to do anything, I purchased it in Indiana.

Anyone is welcome to call me if they have various issues with Jayco. This is not a witch hunt, I am tired of being taken advantage of. They keep saying everything has bugs to work out. This is a nightmare I can’t seem to wake up from.

This posting is further to my original. After some deliberation with the Jayco Corporation, and only after we sat down and went over not just the issues with the original van, but the number of them, it was agreed that the van would be replaced, which has now been done.

The new van is great, it is made the way I expect a new van should be made. I must say that after at times some heated exchanges which went nowhere, Jayco were bending over backwards. I will be the first to admit that things can slip through the works in a manufacturing process and caravans are not exempt, not only Jayco but others.

The lessons learned by both parties will not be forgotten, Jayco have obviously upgraded their quality control and I hope they continue in that way. The dealer at Queanbeyan were nothing short of great in the end, they were helpful and understood my grievances and we all came to a decision happily for us and for Jayco.

Would I recommend Jayco, after all the issues and procrastination over the months, I can only say, Yes, I would recommend them. I had major issues not minor and in the end they replaced the van with what I expected on order, a great van and no major faults. If you have minor faults, talk to them and I am sure they will be sorted. If they are major other steps must be taken to resolve the issue.

Although I cannot retract my previous comments I feel it is only fair to say that Jayco can be trusted, will listen if you talk to the right people and will do something about it. I hope a van never has to be replaced again but they are overall the biggest in Oz and hopefully will stay that way."
