FORD RANGER  2008: 2008 FORD RANGER TRANSMISSION SHUDDER AT TAKEOFF IN FIRST GEAR ONLY

HOPE THIS MAY HELP SOMEONE OUT THERE.

"Any of you Ranger 4X4 dual cab 3.0 diesel owners have this problem? possibly Mazda BT 50 as well. Then take it back to the Ford dealer where you bought it and get them to fix it under warranty. It’s a known design fault with the tail shaft centre bearing being too highly mounted under the vehicle. The replacement centre bearing has mounting lugs on the side at about the 11 and 1 o’clock positions, whereas the old bearing had lugs at about the 9 and 3 o’clock positions.

The position of the new mounting lugs lowers the tail shaft by about 4 cms and alters the angle between the front section and rear section of the tail shaft stopping the transmission shudder you used to get at takeoff.

P.S make sure you check what they have done. They lost and left off one of the seals from the cross yoke in the universal joint when mine was done. Still pursuing the problem to get them to fit a whole new universal joint.

Hope this may help someone out there."
