|"Hi I paid cash for a 2007 Gen2. Since purchasing this pile of **** I have had numerous problems with it. Shall I start with when I paid for the car it had to have paint touch ups on the sill driverís side as some paint had come off. I thought it was someone knocking it with steelcap boots on. Upon delivery this had been done.
When the car was 5 months old I had complete brake failure so off it went on the back of a tow truck. Problem was a 50 cent o ring, problem fixed. Next thing the transmission started playing up. Booked it in again was told it was ok. The next thing to happen was the seal came off the back door, had that fixed, then the other one came off as well so I had that one fixed as well.
The next thing to happen was I had petrol fumes going through the car. First it was the charcoal box, had that fixed, it didn't stop the problem so they changed the petrol chute that has been done twice and I still have the problem but they are going to put a new part in soon. They are also going to put a new part in the transmission at the same time.
Then there was the paint problem. It started to come off in patches on the roof on the bonnet and the sill yet again. So off again to the mechanics who sent it to get repainted. Around three weeks later I got my car back, the new paint was a different colour. I was told white is the hardest colour to match. I requested that the car be taken back and redone. Which they did, five weeks later I got my car back again and the colour still wasnít right. By this time I was getting really angry. Luckily for me I went to the rear of the car to transfer my belongings into it when I noticed around two dozen red run marks coming down the back of my car. So you guessed it off it had to go again, but this time they completely repainted the car.
Since then the rubbers have come off the doors again as well as on the front door and the boot. The radio has also had to be fixed as a part in the steering wheel had had it. On 2nd May 2009 I went and bought a new battery for the key remote as I was having trouble opening and closing the car. Alas $14.50 later I couldnít even get into my car, so 2 hours later the RACV turned up and had to take off the alarm system so I could at least drive my car. Needless to say I now have no security on my car until I can get it down to the mechanic so that he can reprogram the system.
At this point I would like to say that the mechanic has been polite and has endeavoured to fix the problems. As the problems just keep coming and the warranty has only a year to go what then. I have spoken to Proton in Sydney and they were not much help on a few different occasions. Surely there must be some avenue for us to get our money back as what we paid for we are not getting (a reliable car).
What we can rely on is the fact that the car will go back to the mechanic that I have no doubt! I have also pulled people over in NSW to ask them if they have had problems as well and you guessed it yes even with the paintwork. So if anyone can advise me what to do next as I canít afford to buy a new car as I am only a pensioner. What can I do about my problem?"
