========== REPLY ========== Brent,
I believe you have been sold a lot of "Heffer Dust" on the straight line excuse. The clutch should be rated against the Max. Power/Torque of the engine. Therefore there shouldn't be any difference to producing maximum power in a straight line or going up hill. If the load becomes too great then go down a gear, this also reduces the load on the clutch. Don't believe all the excuses you hear.

========== REPLY ========== Brett,
I had three clutches replaced in 8000km, after the third a heavy duty clutch and flywheel was put in the vehicle at Nissans expense, this solved the problem. I tow a 2100kg van plus about 300kg of additional equipment. The original clutches are not strong enough for the job. I also agree with you that this vehicle is a power house and easily tows my van+. Recently I went for a trip of around 2000km and achieved 14.2L/100km, reasonably hilly. The average around the city is 10.5L/100km. For such a small motor it performs very well.
Nissan do need to fix the clutch problems. POSTED BY: NEIL - GOLD COAST, QLD - AUS 10 MAR 2009 |
