HOLDEN COMMODORE EXEC SER II 2004: LPG IS A GAS
6 JAN 2009
ALTERNATIVE FUEL
*GOOD NEWS*

GO AND DO IT, IT IS NOT DANGEROUS, TAXIS HAVE BEEN USING IT FOR MANY YEARS.

"I advise everyone to get an LPG conversion as soon as possible or buy a new car with one fitted. Go for the new Gas injection systems if you can, and the largest tank you can fit. We have never looked back since converting the car in 2005, the system has paid for itself almost 3.5 times because of the kilometer's we travel.

We missed out on the Gov't rebate but the price of most conversions went up by almost the same amount as the rebate anyway. LPG prices are still 25 to 35clp dearer than it should be even though I can buy it for 45 c/pl now after the 4 c/pl discount Jan 2009, we are still being ripped off but it is 1/2 the price of petrol.

I still run my car, 2004 VY V6 Commodore sedan, on petrol 1 day a week to keep the bits lubricated, Fuel pump and injectors etc. The heads were modified free during the warranty period by the local Holden dealer even though I had the Holden approved kit fitted after the car was 1 year old.

On a trip we have had on occasion over 640 kms from 60 litres of LPG, it is mostly between 550 and 600 kms with a load and air con on as well. Around town we get between 12 and 15 litres per 100 km., on petrol it is between 11 and 13. We don't take it easy, the car is not babied but is serviced every 10,000 Kms, new air filter every 5,000 kms as they are cheap enough. Go and do it, it is not dangerous, Taxis have been using it for many years.
