NISSAN NAVARA  2003: FUEL PUMP PROBLEMS?
18 MAY 2008
FUEL PUMP
*ADVICE*

BECAUSE THE COMPUTER POINTS TO THE PUMP, NISSAN BELIEVES THE COMPUTER UNQUESTIONABLY AND MIGHT I SAY... WRONGLY.

"Hi all fellow Navara STR owners. I still see people are continuing to replace "faulty" electronic fuel pumps. Stop Wasting Money! Nissan diagnosed my fuel pump as faulty in early 07 wanting $thousands to replace it. 50,000klm later (without replacing it) and I have the same fault re-occur every now and then (power loss and flashing engine management light delivering Limp Mode) but it is simply and easily fixed while driving.

Firstly let me explain. There is NO fault with the pump. The fault is with the engine management computer. Nissan have no idea what they are doing or how to fix it. Come to think of it, I don't know how to fix it either but I do know how to over-ride it and instantly return to full power mode - without getting out of the driver's seat.

This works for me and a mate who has the same problem with his STR so please try it and enjoy the ride. 1. Place foot on clutch and rev engine briefly to red line (you can't hurt it because the governor kicks in at red line). 2. Continue to drive normally With Full Power Now Attained.

Why does this work? (Theory) It resets the computer after it suffers from a "glitch" in its programming or one of the many sensors the computer talks to reads incorrectly every-now-and-then causing a "ghost" problem for the computer.

In short, there is no fuel pump problem. It's electronic but because the computer points to the pump, Nissan believes the computer unquestionably and might I say... wrongly."
