FUEL - Contaminated fuel
(13/07/2006) *DIESEL FUEL* *CONSUMER ADVICE*
- "Fuel is manufactured to the appropriate Australian standard
and is quality assured from the refinery to the tank farm / terminal
/ road tanker. Once the fuel is dispensed in to the underground / aboveground
bulk storage tank, the quality assurance becomes the responsibility
of the site operator.
- From 1905 until 1985, dispensing sight glasses (your quality assurance
) were mandatory on all browsers. However with the demise of lead in
petrol ( which controlled the fungal material that grows in diesel and
petrol ) the petroleum industry removed sight glasses from all fuel
browsers Australia wide. This has resulted in thousands of people and
organisations, inadvertently purchasing fuel contaminated with water,
excessive rust, microbial material. And to top it off when you then
experience operating issues and you return to complain, you find yourself
with no allies and a major repair expense that cannot be recouped.
- Contamination prevention, avoidance and rectification issues can be
discussed on 0412 211777 or email steve@fueldoctors.com.au " S

TOYOTA LANDCRUISER, 1992 - contaminated
diesel fuel in Mackay Whitsunday (03/06/2006)
*DIESEL FUEL* *ADVICE WANTED*
- "I would be interested in hearing from anyone who has had problems
with Diesel fuel supplied in the Mackay Whitsunday area. Just this week
I spent a considerable amount of my hard earned cash having my diesel
pump and injectors re-conditioned due to contaminated fuel. I initially
put it down to the age of the vehicle and was going to wear it until
I stumbled across this page with similar stories. Has anyone got any
ideas on who to complain to." J Barnett, Whitsunday QLD email

MITSUBISHI
FIGHTER, 2006 - fantastic truck, BAD FUEL
SUPPLIED (28/05/2006) *DIESEL
FUEL*
- "If you think of buying your fuel from a service station because
the servo has a branded sign think again! Been buying our company fuel
from BP. However I was the only driver in our whole fleet to be filling
my tank up at my local BP. But I started to have fuel problems and the
light on the dash came on, telling me to have it looked at. The company
got our mechanic who is fully trusted throughout the company. In front
of me he emptied the fuel line and showed me how much water was in the
fuel. It was surprisingly quite a bit of water in the fuel. However,
I couldn't really understand how it got there. He drained the whole
tank to near empty, and I went and filled it up at the same servo most
of the other drivers go to.
- Anyway, weeks later after going back to the BP as before, the dash
light came on again and I lost all power in the truck. After getting
out the mechanic again, the amount of water coming out of the tank was
incredible. I was blasted because I was getting my fuel at my local
BP instead of the one everyone else went to.
- Since never returning to that BP in the northern suburbs of Wollongong,
and going instead to the other BP in Keira St in Wollongong, the vehicle
has been fine and hasn't had a problem - this hasn't happened again.
- I truly believe that this other BP has a problem with its fuel. And
driving past there seeing other people filling up there with older/other
vehicles that don't tell you there's a problem with the fuel just makes
me want to wind down my window and tell them, but its not my business
to say.
- Good luck BP, never again from this other outlet - thanks for nothing."

DIESEL - Contaminated Diesel fuel *DIESEL
FUEL*
- "You will recall some years back that the Shell Oil company had
to pay millions in compensation when their diesel fuel destroyed seals
in diesel injector pumps. Well it could be on again. The Rockhampton
to Mackay area in Queensland is having a rush on leaking diesel injector
pumps; some reconditioning / repairing specialists are booked for several
weeks and some months (Ford Transit).
- It would be interesting to know if others are having problems."
