FORD FALCON SR BF 2007: MY FORD *COMPLAINT* |

My problem is quite a simple one, yet none of the management team seems to be able to make a decision to resolve this issue. |

========== REPLY ========== Sorry to hear about the SR, I have a BA 03 Futura that has 110.000kms on the clock and has never had 1 problem. Have had this car from new and I'm very happy. POSTED BY: CRAIG - BRISBANE, QLD - AUS 31 JAN 2008 ========== REPLY ========== Gees! What a small matter you have as a Ford lover my self. I would just take the car to a different Ford place. It seems that Ford customer service is ****. Gees that is with the same Ford dealer we have, yes you got to expect problems there is no such thing as a perfect car. But gees Ford you got to have better customer care or else no one will be buying a Ford any more. I know I have been in a similar story but not as bad. They just don’t Care. Ford grow up and get some **** and get this lady a new car! You now turned away a very good Ford customer. The cars aren’t a problem it is the **** service. Great Job! POSTED BY: CHRIS ANDERSON - QLD - AUS 31 JAN 2008 ========== REPLY ========== I sympathise with you Leanne. I purchased a brand new EL Fairmont in late 96 from Blacktown Ford. Used it for commuting to Gosford for six months, mostly motorway driving. At 38,000K I took it in for service at the Gosford dealer. Tyres were good, as were the front pads but, for some strange reason the front discs were past their wear limits and had to be replaced. Ford would not support warranty and said I had been using the brakes excessively to get the discs in that condition. I argued the good condition of the pads and tyres did not support their diagnosis and that it was probable that the discs were never hardened. I even demanded an old disc back for testing, but they refused and insisted I pay for the replacement disc and the labour. That was eleven years ago and I have kept well clear of Ford products ever since. They just don't deserve second chances with their attitude. I suggest you go for full compensation and then go buy a Toyota or a European car. Couldn't recommend any Aussie car at the moment. Bob POSTED BY: BOB BURNS - EAST GOSFORD, NSW - AUS 1 FEB 2008 ========== REPLY ========== Hi Leanne. I do sympathise with your problem, but I'm afraid it will never be fixed unless they have the opportunity to do so. I do not doubt you have been inconvenienced over this issue (surely a loan car was supplied) but as you mentioned the dealer has contacted engineering in Melbourne, so they are obviously taking you quite seriously and not "fobbing you off". Going to a different dealer will only cause more grief as they will have to start the diagnosis process all over again without the full history of the problem. I also noticed in your post that you have not mentioned just what the transmission /gearbox /car is doing wrong (other than a creaking noise ... has the steering rack had the TSB performed on it? as this emits a loud creaking noise). Maybe the request made by Margaret Horesh Customer Relations Centre Manager may have been the first step to getting what you want. Dav... POSTED BY: L DAVIS - BOMADERRY, NSW - AUS 3 FEB 2008 ========== REPLY ========== Att Bob Burns You mention you would go and buy a European car. Shows how much you know about cars. European cars chew through brake rotors a lot quicker than any Ford or Holden ****. When you need to change them all the time it will cost you a small fortune. Stay with Jap cars. POSTED BY: ANDREW - SYDNEY, NSW - AUS 4 FEB 2008 ========== REPLY ========== You let them win. They just want to **** you off enough so you would give up. Yes I did too. I think many of us did. Ford's Customer Relations rang the other day to find out how I was going since I have had my car 2 years. When I started on about the many faults I have they didn't want to know about it. Told me to ring Customer relations and tell them about it. POSTED BY: RON HAY - BLUFF, QLD - AUS 8 OCT 2008 ========== REPLY ========== Leanne, I too have purchased a BF series2 SR Falcon, and from the first week of owing it experienced gear box issues. We drove to Queensland in December of 2008 and had on several occasions the kick back on passing selected 2nd gear at 100km with some pretty loud noises. I reported this to the dealer here in Melbourne and was told that they would re-set the software into learning mode which should fix the problem. This of course did not do anything and subsequently the gear changing became erratic from time to time. Quite harsh in the mornings. When we purchased the car it was bought with the expressed intent of towing a small caravan. Before we even hooked up the caravan the gearbox leaked large amounts of fluid in the driveway with the outcome being the fitting of a new gearbox. Next we were assured the problem was resolved and the new gearbox overheated and went into a limp home mode? Next the dealer insisted on fitting an oil-cooler to the gearbox at a cost to me result was exactly the same, overheating! Next the Ford customer relations are suggesting the dealer get in tough with the Techs at Ford. What do you think? Same **** result. So where do I go to from here? Did you eventually resolve your issues cause at this stage I, like you seem to be getting no where and it has cost me 3 lots of holiday cancellations apart from the expense of missing days at work Hope to hear your resolve. Has anyone come across this problem or have any suggestion of how to get around the problem. I have been told that if I fit a Hayman Reese tow hitch it will void my vehicles warranty." POSTED BY: DEREK WHYTE - EVERTON PARK, QLD, AUS 4/11/2007 ========== REPLY ========== As much as I dislike your choice of tow vehicle, you could try a goose neck that works at a different angle to what you have now. Personally, I'd go for the Hayman Reese tow bar. The only way a Hayman Reese tow bar will void your warranty is if the tow bar causes the failure of another component. What could a quality tow bar like a Hayman Reese cause failure to? Someone is trying to take you for a ride. Speak to Hayman Reese direct, I'm sure they will reassure you. They have agents in Virginia and Caboolture. Good Luck, Mark. POSTED BY: MARK KURAN - MELBOURNE, VIC 5/11/2007 ========== REPLY ========== Hi ya mate, Something I tried once was to take the 50mm ball off the tongue and turn the tongue upside down, re-fit the ball to the tongue. Won't cost you anything. Otherwise go to a caravan shop and ask. POSTED BY: GEORGE - LOCATION & EMAIL NOT SUPPLIED 6/11/2007 ========== REPLY ========== I've currently got the same problem & was wondering if you found a solution? POSTED BY: NICK KILSBY - PERTH, WA 25/1/2008 ========== REPLY ========== Hi there, I have owned three R/R and if you are towing a caravan and it is lower in the rear end, put a set of air bags under it. That will fix the problem plus you can adjust the amount of air to suit, or if that is out of your price range put a set of heavier springs in it. Cheers. It’s a central hub for whingers to share stories. POSTED BY: BRIAN HENDERSON - YEA, VIC - AUS 11 FEB 2009 ========== REPLY ========== The thing people need to understand when buying parts for any imported car is that the Australian Government has a 50% tax put on top of every part that you purchase. The reason for this is to prop up our local car makers & keep their high prices somewhere in the ball park of competitiveness. Don’t blame the poor Toyota, Nissan, Mazda guys for the high prices next time you buy. Just remember next time that 50% of that price is tax! Regards, Jay. FORD FALCON BA 2004: RE: BACKFIRING ON & POOR RUNNING ON GAS *FEEDBACK WANTED* |

ISSUE: |
I have a 2004 BA Falcon on dedicated gas which I have had no problems with up until recently. It has started mis-firing at speeds above 70km/hr when you put your foot on the accelerator. ========== ORIGINAL POSTING ========== "FORD FALCON FUTURA 2003: BACKFIRING ON & POOR RUNNING ON GAS - I'm thinking of putting LPG on an 03 Futura but have been told by 2 Ford Dealers not to because of backfiring and poor running and idle problems. POSTED BY: DON BOOTS - PERTH, WA, AUS 21/11/2007 PROVIDE FEEDBACK ========== REPLY ========== Speak to the taxi companies and to the gas conversion places. Mark POSTED BY: MARK KURAN - MELBOURNE, VIC 21/11/2007 ========== REPLY ========== Hi Don. I assume that the Taxis you mentioned are dedicated LPG vehicles. The dedicated factory gas on BA/BFs is throttle body vapour supply like most earlier systems using Vialle converters. There are many aftermarket LPG installations around where they add the same style "Throttle body vapour supply". The alternative is "Vapour Sequential Injection" where vapour is injected to each inlet port just like the petrol system. This is a more expensive system but is much more efficient / reliable and delivers quite comparable performance with petrol (and does not restrict the inlet like others). The system we (a Ford dealership) install is supplied by Parnell VSI. They have a website with lots of info to whet your appetite to change to LPG. Hope this is of help. If you contact me direct I can give you more info if you wish. POSTED BY: L DAVIS - BOMADERRY, NSW 28/11/2007 ========== REPLY ========== I had gas installed on my 2004 XR6 {non turbo} a couple of years ago and had a lot of trouble with back firing. The installer closed the plug gap to .8 mm and this helped a lot but did not stop the problem altogether. It had Ford plugs fitted, I was talking to a guy in Perth when I was over there, and he suggested to fit NGK'S, which I did and have not had a speck of trouble since. Also the car performs and runs so much smoother. Very happy with it now, the gas system is sprint gas. Regards Roy. POSTED BY: ROY PEISLEY - TAREE, NSW 12/12/2007 ========== REPLY ========== LPG conversions need to be servcied at least every 20,000K by an LPG installer. The main problems are often the air filters blocking. POSTED BY: JOHN - SUNBURY, VIC 1/4/2008 |

MAZDA BRAVO 2600 2003: RE: PINGING ON HOT DAYS, 33 DEGREES AND OVER *REPLY* |
||
ISSUE: |
I have owned a 2003 Mazda Bravo 2600 since new and from day one we have always experienced pinging under hard acceleration, particularly so in 3rd gear above 3500 revs. Numerous fuel filter changes and tanks of premium fuel have had on effect on the problem in the 90,000kms we have had the vehicle. Have resigned ourselves to living with the problem and make sure we back off the throttle when it occurs. Other than that it has provided very reliable travel. |

========== ORIGINAL POSTING ========== "FORD COURIER PG SERIES 2.6L EFI 2004: PINGING ON HOT DAYS, 33 DEGREES AND OVER - Bought this 4X4 Courier in the winter and problem only appeared in February on the first 35 deg day we had and after Midland Ford did a "Throttle Body Service" during a normal oil change service. (Hint, Keep away from Midland Ford) Runs faultlessly under 30 deg temperature days - over that , pings like mad, all sensors check as per specs, using 98 octane petrol has no effect, fuel pump pressures and flow as per specs, timing as per specs, fuel pump pre filter and tank clean, new high pressure in line filter installed. This can't be the only Ford Courier in Australia experiencing this problem - any comments and advice welcomed as EFI firms and the Ford "experts" in Perth are stumped." POSTED BY: JOHN WILKIN - PERTH, WA, AUS 25/10/2007 ========== REPLY ========== I saw this sort of problem once. It ended up being too much compression. The head had been removed because of a head gasket being blown and too much was machined from the head. Check that you don’t have really high compression. Around 175psi or more is too much. Good Luck. POSTED BY: MARK KURAN - MELBOURNE, VIC 26/10/2007 ========== REPLY ========== For what it's worth, my BA G220 Fairlane is pinging too, however, the dealer did an upper engine clean, and that has made some improvement. They mentioned some "new cleaning fluid" which they have now (sorry I don't know the name of it). They said that carbon deposits can build up inside the engine, which causes the compression ratio to increase. They also replaced the knock sensor as a precaution, but they feel that it is more likely to be the cleaning which made the improvement. POSTED BY: GREG - RYDE, NSW 4/11/2007 ========== REPLY ========== My 93 Courier had the same engine and problem but retarding the ignition timing in the summer shut it up. If that works for you just mark the original position and the new one so that you can change easily for the seasons. It has to be the hot under bonnet air causing the problem, so perhaps a cold air intake or snorkel kit off a 4x4 will work too? POSTED BY: KEN GROVES - PERTH, WA 14 AUG 2008 |

PEUGEOT 306 1996: RE: SEEKING A RELIABLE HONEST REPAIRER - OR HOW LONG IS A PIECE OF STRING? *REPLY* |
||
ISSUE: |
I have had the same level of service from Trivett Paramatta (must be a company thing!). I believe that when the cars get older and the mechanics have to do more than simply read codes and replace what the computers tell them, it becomes either too hard or the company feels they are not making enough money out of you. I too am looking for a good mechanic for my 306. I still like the car and want to keep it. |

========== ORIGINAL POSTING ========== "PEUGEOT 306 XR 1996: SEEKING A RELIABLE HONEST REPAIRER - OR HOW LONG IS A PIECE OF STRING ? - I love my little 306, it finds car parks that SUVs simply can't dream of, can maneuver zippily through heavy traffic and is quite fuel efficient. It has however run into a few needy repairs of late one being a new window cable, additional repairs to the automatic window motor and a new door lock. So, I took it to Trivett at Alexandria. $900 later it was repaired, then about 8 months after the repair the internal workings of the door lock fell in so I took it back to be repaired under warranty. 1 1/2 yrs later the lock fell in again. The quote for repairs, incidentally everything they supposedly replaced with new parts $880. Now don't get me wrong but wouldn't you expect a brand new door lock and barrel to last more than 1 1/2yrs? Why am being asked to pay for someone else poor workmanship? I understand it is an old car but these are brand new parts. Another ongoing issue with Trivett is their inability to fix the windscreen wipers so that they wipe the windscreen. Now I have taken my car to be serviced there several times but they have never quite managed this very simple task. Something about the car which translates as “you have an old car which we are not interested in servicing properly". The problem being that any new car you buy from them will one day be old and this is the standard of service one is to expect. Words of warning, flashy new building, shame about the service." POSTED BY: MARIKA HAHN - SYDNEY, NSW - AUS 30 NOV 2007 ========== REPLY ========== Hi Marika, Look for a non-franchised Peugeot repairer. The aussiefrogs website or the Peugeot Club of NSW will be most helpful in finding a reliable repairer in your area. Don't despair Peugeots are great cars. The first visit back had issues with the sunroof not closing booked it in the get a service done as well. All was good until they decided to wash the car without fixing the sunroof first, stupidity at work. The interior was flooded, carpet, seats and already had the mouldy smell. Interior was changed car went back sunroof worked for about 10 minutes before failing again. Changed Holden dealers after that experience. Got the sunroof fixed. Towards the end of the warranty period the car decided to start doing some weird things, mostly electrical: 1. Auto headlights fail to turn off when locking 2. Radio has a mind off its own 3. Steering wheel buttons reverse operation and swap functions 4. Rear door not unlocking - fixed 5. Fuel surging - problem not located 6. Unexpected stalling when doing u-turns 5+ attempts required to start car 7. Vehicle unable to start - current issue (fuel pump suspected) 8. Unable to gain entry to car after battery died." Love your work mate POSTED BY: RIZZO - SYDNEY, NSW 28/9/2007 ========== REPLY ========== I thought I was the only person being punished for buying the same model SS, apparently not. Rear drivers side door seals have been replaced 3 times to fix the flood of water after heavy rain that pools behind my seat - the most annoying creaking sound from my seat, seat rail replaced but after 10 minutes creaking is back (and they managed to break the trim that wraps around the rear of the seat rail at the same time), - recall for some airbag issue - rear passenger side door did not unlock or lock so the alarm went off when I tried to lock with the remote - car is so sloppy and loose after 50,000 it feels like a $450 car rather than a $45,000 car. The most annoying one is a noise, sorry Clunking that comes from under the car when I drive on the freeway at 100km/h and slow down to sit in heavy traffic, the noise sound like their is an annoying gnome in the diff with a baseball bat. It was so loud that I recorded it once on my mobile phone and replayed it to the dealership (4th complaint for the same noise) and then I actually thought that they would look into the problem properly but they just "added an additive to the diff to fix the problem". I am no mechanic but I'm also not stupid. Then there is the Holden customer service at the Vic office. In summary - they have the communication skills of a house brick! 8 Holdens later - never ever ever will I buy Holden again ... POSTED BY: JASON MCANTEE - SYDNEY, NSW 29/9/2007 |

========== ORIGINAL POSTING ========== "HOLDEN ASTRA 2006: STEREO, SHORTAGE OF SOME SORT - I have bought my car brand new only had 20kms on clock and already i have faults and Holden is telling me there's nothing wrong with it or trying to find some excuse for what's happening is normal. Tell me how can a stereo that turns itself down and won't turn up be normal, try travelling an hr with low volume and can't turn it up when a good song comes on. They blamed it on the heat and said its normal when it's hot to do that but who wants to put up with that all summer? NOT ME! But how can they explain when it happens at 10pm on the way home when it's cold? I've taken my complaint to higher people but was wandering if anybody else has had the same problem or I just got a black sheep? My other problem was pulling out of the driveway the other morning and I had no power steering no horn no clock or temperature. Please let me know of any problems anyone may have had. Thanks" POSTED BY: J MILLER - BRISBANE, QLD 3/01/2007 ========== REPLY ========== Twice in the previous 20,000km we have started the car only to find it had no power steering. The first time we were caught unawares and the problem seemed to disappear on its own within a minute or so. The second time it was around dusk and it was noted that the headlights did not work either. This time the problems rectified themselves instantly when the indicators were turned on! The controls on the stereo itself work without fault but it is a lottery as to what the buttons on the steering wheel will do when pressed. Most often the volume up button controls the tuning down and volume down does nothing. Sometimes the power windows will descend fully as expected with the short push and release of the button, sometimes they won't. Recently, while travelling at around 20km/h and slowing for traffic lights, the electric motor that opens the hatch was heard to operate on its own. The car then proceeded to "bing" loudly to warn me that the hatch door was ajar. These faults have been reported at the regular scheduled services but the dealer can find nothing wrong and the problems refuse to show themselves while at the dealership. We have reported the problems to Holden directly who can only suggest that we return the vehicle to the service department of the dealership at our earliest convenience. POSTED BY: W ANDREWS - DARCH, WA 13/03/2007 ========== REPLY ========== Astra 2006 AH hatch, my Astra also does some strange short out, and as you said it happens at any time of the day. I enjoy my music and crank the volume up, but also make sure I adjust the levels so it doesn't sound awful. When it turns down then I can't turn it back up again for over an hour. It drives me crazy especially when I drive 7 hours to Sydney all the time. As for the other problems all I've had "so far" are rattles in the doors, and a paint defect which has been repaired 3 times - still a ongoing battle, just received it back for the 3rd time only to find a piece of grit under the paint. Now it has to go in for a 4th time, a total of 10 days without my car and no courtesy vehicle. My car's only done 5000 ks and already the engine has this irritating hiccup or stumble when I'm accelerating. I love the car but I'm starting to feel like I should have bought something else. POSTED BY AIDAN BOURNE - WODONGA, VIC 12/4/2007 ========== REPLY ========== Just a note to clarify. Several posts have mentioned "clock springs". The clock spring is not a spring as you would expect. It is actually a spirally wound ribbon cable mounted at the top of the steering column. This cable enables a continuous connection of devices such as cruise controls, horn, gearshift, audio controls and airbag circuits at the steering wheel. For many years they have caused electrical concerns in this area, primarily due to the constant movement of the steering wheel. Hope this eases concerns about how it is related to some problems. ========== ORIGINAL POSTING ========== "Have been very happy with 2002 LS carnival for last three years. Have just read many letters on net and consider myself lucky to have made it this far. But problems that previously unaware of have started. Oil in the water was noticed today and at this stage will be unable to afford to repair. Car has now done 108,000km. Have done approx 40,000 of these ourself and probably only got this far due to treating it gently and servicing it myself (trade mechanic). Due to own servicing I suspect that I would not be eligible for any type of compensation (what do you think?). As stated, have been happy with car till now. Firstly any idea how much longer other Kia's have lasted after first noticing coolant contamination. Secondly, have you heard of anyone finding a successful and not too difficult engine transplant that is not the original so that problem doesn't reoccur. Expecting it to last my family at least another several years and 200,000 driving it the way we do if only a successful heart transplant can be found for it. Like I said have been happy with all else. Steering has had the occasional growl but hasn't been a problem. PS appreciate any info you may be able to return to me and think it a great thing you are attempting to do on behalf of all the Carnival owners who have really been stung hard. Good for me if eng can be sourced because it doesn’t look like I’ll ever run out of near new parts n panels cos I intend on turning this lemon into a peach." Dave, Southern Adelaide. POSTED BY: DAVID FERGUSSON - ADELAIDE, SA, AUS 22/01/2008 ========== REPLY ========== I don’t own a KIA, but what if you pulled the motor out and machined the heads and block, use a top quality gasket set. I know the VL Commodores have a habit of head gasket failure due to the radiator mounting. Look at this for failure run a bit lower thermostat, top quality coolant, being a mechanic it should not cost you much. Also why the motor is out there is suppose to be a y shape hose coupling that’s made out of plastic at the rear of the motor that has been known to fail. POSTED BY: RAY - ADELAIDE, SA 22/1/2008 ========== REPLY ========== Julie Email me back I may have some info to assist. Try to provide as MUCH detail as you can, date of purchase, Kia reply, current mileage etc etc. Regards, Dale POSTED BY: DALE MORRIS - WOODVALE, WA 29/1/2008 |

HOLDEN ASTRA 2003: RE: A NEW PROBLEM EVERY YEAR! *REPLY* |
||
ISSUE: |
Hey Joy, maybe you should change your name or maybe your car. I didn't even read your complaint but I posted my Astra complaint on here almost a year ago now. My friend had one too and we both got rid of our Astras because if either of our cars had a problem, the other got the same problem soon after. And the more I spoke to other Astra owners, the more I realised they're just lemons. |

========== ORIGINAL POSTING ========== "HOLDEN ASTRA CITY 2003: A NEW PROBLEM EVERY YEAR! - First it was the barrel lock when the car refused to start so ... this was in the second year and then came the major one the following year just a month after the warranty expired. The engine lights turned on and the car refused to pick up speed. After taking the car in for two checks to Zupps Holden, the lights still came on. I was told that the computer chip had to be replaced, cost me $2500. My car travels less than 100 kms every week, current mileage is 70000kms. Would appreciate feedback. Has this just happened to me or is this just my luck!" POSTED BY: JOY S - BRISBANE, QLD, AUS 28/01/2008 PROVIDE FEEDBACK ========== REPLY ========== Joy, This will bring you no joy. Sorry. These cars are rubbish and very expensive to service and maintain as you are experiencing. Look at all the complaints on this site about Astras to know what will be going wrong next. ========== ORIGINAL POSTING ========== "HOLDEN CREWMAN VZ V6 S 2006: WHO SELLS A CAR WITHOUT A LOCKING FUEL DEVICE - HOLDEN - We bought a Crewman without thinking to check if you get a locking fuel cap or flap that opens from inside the cab. Imagine our surprise upon first fuelling to discover no lock! Rang the dealers and was passed around until they found that a locking fuel cap was an after market Holden accessory, note not a spare part. Paid for fuel cap and thought that was the end of it until within a week fuel stains down the side of the car. Return car to Holden dealer must be faulty cap - they have to order a cap so make do with original. A week later a new one arrives and I go and pick it up, same thing happens. This happens three times with that dealer, the last time they told me they had fixed the problem (regular service) go to service station and find they have replaced locking cap with another non locking cap. So I had a dummy spit and they got another locking cap ordered. 30,000 k service. This time I take it to another dealer they assure me it must be a fuel tank or line problem after 3 faulty fuel caps. I leave the car with them for 4 days. Go to pick up car - oh sorry it was the cap and it hasn't arrived yet. They then tell me it was delivered over the weekend so fit a cap and I drive off. They do the same thing - they ordered a new cap but because it’s an accessory they ordered and fitted the wrong one again. So here I am one year down after 4 fuel caps and more petrol poured out the side of the car than consumed by it waiting for yet another one." ========== REPLY ========== Holden 1 tonner, it will be the diff depends on the dealer, some will admit it is a problem. It is usually the side gear bearings they are too tight on the gear. Mine was a VY Series 2 thought they would have rectified the problem by now. The diffs are made in Thailand. I had two complete diffs hub to hub and one rebuild to fix the problem. The rebuild was done by transmission services at 120000ks and this sorted the problem. POSTED BY: GREG CONWAY - BRISBANE, QLD 31/5/2008 |

========== REPLY ========== Greg, What do you mean, "they can’t fix it"? What have they tried to do? Replace the O2 sensor? Replaced it 9 times? Mark. POSTED BY: MARK KURAN - MELBOURNE, VIC 28/1/2008 ========== REPLY ========== Hi I have the same problem been in 6 times and have now been driving for 6 months with a blown O2 sensor. Issue diagnosed by Holden as a faulty wiring harness that shorts the new sensor out each time they put it in. Problem is Holden, and that is Aust wide do not have a wiring harness to replace mine with. Still waiting, spoke to them today and will be waiting until at least end of next month. POSTED BY: LINDSEY - SYDNEY, NSW 12/3/2008 ========== REPLY ========== Hi my dad has a VE Commodore and has the same problem with the check engine warning light coming on. He has taken it Holdens many times. They keep telling him it is because of after market gas.Was wondering if you knew anybody else that was having a problem with VE. I printed a copy of your postings and my dad took it to Holdens and they said it was completely different because yours was the model before dad and I thought they were both the same engines, thanks. MITSUBISHI PAJERO 1995: VIBRATION NOISE COMING FROM DASH BOARD AT 100KM *FEEDBACK WANTED* |
||
ISSUE: |
A very annoying noise sounding like a vibration/rattling sound coming from somewhere in the dash area. The sound only occurs between 90km and 100km and then stops after this speed. I don’t believe there is a problem with the wheels being out of alignment as this has been fixed. The steering is good. I do not know what is causing this rattling noise, and have taken the glove box out but there is nothing loose. I would appreciate any advice. |

========== REPLY ========== Did you ever find what the noise was, as I have the exact same motor. Annoying problem, but it does save me fuel! Was mentioned some thing about the speedo cable? Any way seems to be having bigger problems with engine at the moment. Better late than never! Cheers Keith POSTED BY: KEITH - BUNBURY, WA - AUS 25 APR 2009 ========== REPLY ========== I have a 92 NH Pajero, and at the exact same speeds between 90 110 the vibration in the dash board also appears. I have been informed that it is the speedo cable, and is very tricky to get to, let alone trying to keep it quite. Either replacement cable needed or some special grease put down the cable I have been told will also fix the problem. I myself will replace the cable, I think the grease is a short fix. Good luck and let me know how you get on. POSTED BY: DAVO - MILDURA, VIC - AUS 22 JUN 2009 |

FORD FALCON XR6 2004: RE: FORD FALCON XR6 TURBO 2004: HELP! *REPLY* |
||
ISSUE: |
Mate, all experience I have had with disc grinds can cure immediate or short term problems. Firstly what caused the warped discs in the first place? over braking? heavy braking? heavy load carrying? Usually the first hypothesis is the problem, however taking material off the disc only exaggerates the issue further i.e. less material the disc heats quicker! |

========== ORIGINAL POSTING ========== "FORD FALCON XR6 TURBO 2004: HELP! - I am really disappointed with my car. In buying a performance car (XR-6T) you expect mainly reliable brakes! only this year I had my brake disc resurfaced 3 times. My Tail shaft loose on 60,000 km and my ignition coil cracked. The worse thing is that the last two were not covered under warranty and now the brake shudder is back after only 3 weeks and my warranty ended last month, so I will have to pay for it. I am so disappointed and don't know what to do, any ideas? Should they put new brake discs? Thanks." POSTED BY: OUDIN TEDDY - MELBOURNE, VIC, AUS 20/11/2007 ========== REPLY ========== The best reliability from experience would be to fit DBA Slotted Rotors and Bendix Heavy Duty Pads. ========== ORIGINAL POSTING ========== "I own a 2007 Landrover Discovery purchased to tow a 21ft caravan but now find that the tow bar is too low to accommodate the van.
