The popular
Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van now offers higher levels of driver
comfort and safety through the addition of enhanced standard
equipment levels.
The Sprinter
van is now equipped with a driver airbag as standard, further
reducing the risk of driver injury in a collision. The addition
of standard driver airbag ensures that drivers are protected
with similar safety systems as used in many passenger cars.
For increased
driver comfort and ease of operation the Sprinter van is now
also fitted standard with electric mirrors. This feature provides
the driver with a better level of manoeuvrability and increases
the ease of operation.
Since local
introduction in 1998, the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter has been a
strong market performer and in 2004 record sales were reported
with 1982 units sold.
“Sprinter
has always been renowned for its efficiency from an operating
cost point of view,” said Campbell York, senior executive
responsible for Mercedes-Benz light commercial vehicles.
“The
new standard features show that the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter also
values driver safety and comfort which are now brought into
the limelight,” said York. “With the addition of
these new standard features the Sprinter more than ever truly
represents safety, comfort and value in the commercial vehicle
segment,” he said.
More than
one million Sprinters have been sold since the van’s release
ten years ago and Sprinters can be found on the roads of more
than 100 countries around the world.
Continuous
further development is one of the strengths of the Sprinter.
Numerous model updating measures have ensured that the model
year 2005 Sprinter is every bit as up-to-date as the van was
at the start of its Australian career in 1998.
