2005 ADMIRAL'S CUP

  • Organiser: Royal Ocean Racing Club (RORC)
  • started as a private challenge between British and American yachtsmen
  • in 1957, the Fastnet race became the final race of the Admiral's Cup challenge
  • in 1959 the race was opened to other nations
  • in 1965 Admiral's Cup there were teams from US, Sweden, Holland, France, Ireland and Australia
  • in 1967 Admiral's Cup was won by Australia
  • in 1999 Fastnet race was replaced with Wolf Rock Race as the principal offshore race.

SCHEDULE

  • July 9-17, 2005
  • Cowes, Isle of Wight, UK

RACE FORMAT:

  • inshore and offshore races
  • princial offshore race: Wolf Rock race (400 miles) for Swan 45 and IRC boats

TEAMS:

  • 2 teams per nation
  • each team consistes of 3 boats: Mumm 30, Swan 45, IRC boat (TCC 1.3-1.55)
