The company’s 2007 caravan and pop-top models of its innovative Expanda product are no exception.

This unique Aussie product draws on the best feature of the camper trailer - beds that extend outside the vehicle’s superstructure - gives families more living space. But unlike the camper trailer - which has a slide-out bed base - the front and rear wall panels of the Expanda models convert into the base of the vehicle’s beds. Five pop-top models measure 4.89 metres (16 ft) in length and can sleep up to six persons, making them a popular first choice for many families. Two of these models include a shower and a toilet.

In response to demographic and market trends, Jayco also builds three compact Expanda pop-top models designed for couples and singles. Two of these models measure 3.82 metres (12’ 6”) in length, and have a single double bed extension folding out from the rear wall of the vehicle, while the third model - a popular new addition to the Jayco RV fleet this year - measures 4.41 metres (14’6”) and features a shower and toilet.

The two caravan models both measure 5.71 metres (18’ 8”) in length. One model (based on Layout Number 7) has an electric slide-out lounge which extends to provide additional living space. Both models sleep seven people (using the lounge as an additional single bed), and a shower and a toilet are standard features.

Major innovations in this year’s Expanda models include:

A comprehensive “makeover” of the interior décor featuring subtle, contemporary colour combinations and new, high quality soft furnishings.
New interior layouts which highlight spacious interiors.
Improved bedding including wider double mattresses (1.52 metres or 5 feet).
A larger recessed, stainless steel sink.
Storage trunk (at the front of the vehicle) with side door access.

Easy roll drawers under dinette seats and single beds.

The Expanda series is also available in an Outback range for off-road travel. These vehicles have the added strength and clearance needed to tackle Australia’s vast network of unsealed roads.
